CineUnderground is a film festival dedicated to strictly independent and low budget horror/sci-fi/fantasy/action/trash cinema.
As part of Concorto 2025, we will host two thematic screenings: Stop Motion From Hell, on August 19, a focus centered on stop-motion animated shorts films , and Terror Tapes, on August 23, dedicated to short films shot on magnetic tape. In Stop Motion From Hell animation reveals its dark, disturbing and splatter side. A selection of Italian and international animated shorts that delve into the most extreme genres of cinema, where media and message often intertwine to deliver the audience a show that no other language could stage with the same impact. Terror Tapes presents a selection of splatter/weird shorts shot entirely on tape (Betacam, VHS, miniDV). The focus aims to breathe new life into an aesthetic that has long been associated with low-budget cinema, which today, in a world where high definition is given for granted, can become a powerful countercultural statement. The selection will not only include short films from the 1990s, but also contemporary films showing that love for magnetic tape is still alive.
