Schedule

Tuesday August 25th

4:30 pm – THE SHAPES OF WATER [lab for children aged 3 to 6 years old]

How many forms does water have? Thanks to Edulren and Spazio Goccia we are going to explore together the journey of a small drop of water: from clouds to the river and back. We will turn into little drops, we will pass through clouds and rain, we will flow in the soil and in pipes, we will build together a river with inhabitants (humans and non-humans) and we will dive into the sea.

In partnership with Edulren and Spazio Goccia.

at the same time

4:30 pm – ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A SEA [lab for children aged 7 to 12 years old]

What if we told you that you are walking on a sea aged millions of years? Don’t you believe it? Millions of years ago the Po Valley did not exist and in its place there was a sea inhabited by fin whales, sharks, shellfish and much more! We know that because at MumAB, the Ancient Sea and Biodiversity Museum in Salsomaggiore the fossils left behind by that ancient sea are studied. Fossils have always fascinated adults and children alike, but how do the excavations that allow the recovery of these exceptional finds take place? How do paleontologists work? In this lab children will become paleontologists for a day: thanks to sandboxes in which fossil and recent shells are hidden, as real workers the participants will have to cooperate and, while digging, they will bring them to light and proceed with their identification.

In partnership with MuMAB – Museo Mare Antico e Biodiversità and Città del Sole Piacenza

5:30-6 pm – break! Offered by Fonte Plose and Eataly Piacenza

6-7 pm – projection of short films themed water.

Wednesday August 26

4:30 pm – WATER MUSIC [lab for children aged 3 to 6 years old]

What does rain sound like when it falls? And what sound does the deep ocean make? By active listening, games and movement, children will undertake a true sensory journey. Notes of great composers will become a guide to tell the stories of water, encouraging imagination and coordination in a fun and spontaneous way. Carried out by Beatrice from Piacenza Bambini, in collaboration with Città del Sole Piacenza.

at the same time

4:30 pm GEOGRAPHY OF WATER  [lab for children aged 7 to 12 years old]

Together with a narrator and with his helper, we will explore the water cycle in our city. We will discover how much energy is needed to push it up to the highest floors in houses and how the purifier that cleans it before returning it to river Po works. The big game: each child will receive a creative kit with recycled materials Re Mida to build one of the 18 real wells of Piacenza. Once ready, we will connect them all together to build a true aquatic underground labyrinth!

In partnership with Edulren and Spazio Goccia.

5:30-6 pm – break! Offered by Fonte Plose and Eataly Piacenza

6-7 pm – projection of short films themed water.

Thursday August 27th

️4:30 pm – Lab for teachers, educators, parents. HOW TO COMMUNICATE SCIENCE: Stories, Images, and the Wonders of Nature—with Enrica Montanini for MuMAB and Ente Parchi del Ducato, along with Daniela Ravanetti and Angelica Zilli of MuMAB

A short film, just like a museum experience, has the extraordinary ability to spark curiosity and communicate science to young children in an engaging way. But how can we explain complex topics like biodiversity and the history of Earth without compromising scientific rigor? Drawing on the museum’s activities, this session will explore the power of storytelling, where images, artifacts, stories, and play become essential tools for seeing nature through fresh eyes. A unique opportunity to discover how creativity can transform science communication into an invitation to understand and care for our world.

at the same time

4:30 pm – LESSONS OF WONDER – The sea [lab for children aged 3 to 12 years old] Collective lab led by Enrica Carini in partnership with Piacenza bambini

In partnership with the musicians of Piacenza Bambini.

5:30-6 pm – break! Offered by Fonte Plose and Eataly Piacenza

6-7 pm – projection of the best international short films for children!
