What does it mean to be Native today? How can one reconcile being part of an ancient tradition with everyday life in an America that was built on the obliteration of that very culture, which it then attempted to confine to reservations? Our aim is to let ourselves be guided by the images, voices, and imagination of those who experience this dilemma. INDIE_GENOUS seeks to open a small window onto the vast Native American culture, particularly in today’s United States and Canada, without the impossible and unreasonable ambition of capturing every aspect of such a diverse population, but rather with the goal of exploring the deeply universal theme of belonging.
