Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans

A visual parable of love, desire, and redemption. A farmer is seduced by a city girl and plots to murder his wife during a boat trip. However, upon doing it, he stops and embarks with her on an unexpected journey of reconciliation, marked by confusion and rediscovery of love. Murnau’s first Hollywood film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans is a masterpiece of silent cinema, celebrated for its innovative use of camera movements and seamless fusion of Expressionistic aesthetics with melodramatic narration. Winner at the first Academy Awards, it remains one of the most important and influential works in the history of cinema.
